Excellent Personal Service from
Furniture Court on Barnard Street
Timaru South Island N.Z.
You have heard the name many times on radio. You have read
the adds in the newspaper, now you can learn why Ashley
Milliken has a successful locally owned Timaru Business.
You can learn why my wife and I went
back and bought our second lounge suit from the firm that
puts the customer first. You can learn why I chose Ashley
Milliken’s Furniture Store
as the venue to row a world record 100,000 metres in a day on
an indoor rowing machine.
Ashley and his staff are not just in
the furniture business they are in the people business. They
care about people and Timaru could do with a lot more people
like them.

Born in Temuka and educated
at Timaru South School and Timaru Technical College Ashley
Millikin’s first job after leaving school
was for the late J S Paine as a painter and decorator. In 1968
he moved to Wellington and worked for Taubman’s Paints as
a technical sales rep. While in Wellington he became attracted
to the furniture industry and got a job with a furniture
retailer. Ashley returned to his home town Timaru and got
a job with a Timaru furniture company Moyes and Moyes where
he worked his way up to branch manager.
He always wanted
to own his own business so in 1981 he started a business
at 14 Barnard Street where Guthrey Bowron are today and in
1994 he moved into a new purpose built building at 28
Barnard Street where the company trades from today.
In 1986
the company became a member of the Furniture Court Group
which has 17 branches nationwide. Ashley Milliken Furniture
Court provides furniture for every main room in the house.
Your Lounge, Kitchen, Dining Room and Bedrooms can all be
furnished with furniture of the highest quality from Ashley
Milliken Furniture Court.
Ashley and his team of dedicated
staff will bring their furniture to your home free of charge
on approval to make sure it is what you want for the room.
They will even supply all the accessories such as cushions,
pillows, rugs and pictures for the walls, etc. If you don’t
like the colour of the upholstery they will change the fabric
and won't even charge you for their labour.
The after sales
service is excellent and I can vouch for that as my wife
and I have purchased several pieces of furniture from them
and whenever we have had a problem they have come to our
home and fixed it free of charge. In addition to the excellent
service the best I like is that all their profits stay invested
locally for the benefit of the people in the Timaru district.
Invest in a piece of furniture from
Ashley Milliken’s Furniture
Court on Barnard Street and you will not only be will be
investing in an asset for yourself but also in South Canterbury’s
future.
