Timaru Photo News Directory is a Winner

What started out as an idea to publish a telephone business directory has become a much bigger and more exciting project than ever expected.  It first began when I asked a business man if he would advertise in our Photo News magazine.

He said he had no need to advertise but he would give us a donation to help promote Timaru. To my surprise he went to is his safe and gave us all that was in it which was $220 in cash.We looked around at what to do with it and then realized that the Timaru City does not have its own brochure so we started asking other businesses if they would give us a donation to publish a telephone directory and one that also promoted the attractions of Timaru. Within a short period of time we had received donations from over 200 Timaru businesses so we were then committed to producing a telephone directory that promoted Timaru.

The aim of our Company Timaru Tourist Promotions Limited has always been to attract more people to Timaru so the obvious way to do that was to launch the Directory on to the Internet. We built our website and officially launched it live in the first week of December.   Within a couple of weeks of going live we were number one on Google just by typing in the key words of our domain name Timaru Directory.

Even the key words Timaru tourist brings us onto the first page of the worlds biggest search engine Google. We are excited about our new beginnings and we believe that the Timaru Photo News Directory is well on the way to becoming the most popular website for information about Timaru, its people, businesses, places and events.

Business Web Pages Several businesses have taken the opportunity to display their goods and services by buying their own Webpage on the Timaru Directory website.  Any business that has their own website can use a link from the directory to bring more traffic to their own site. E-mail links are also a benefit of having a Webpage on the directory.  Those who don’t have their own website can have one with us at a modest price.

There are 2 types of WebPages Silver sponsor or a Gold sponsor A Silver sponsor has a Webpage with details of all its services including e-mail logo etc A donation for a Silver sponsored website is from $200 

 A Gold sponsored Webpage is our top of the range Webpage which includes full details plus photographs and a link to any other website. A Gold sponsored Webpage is available for donations from $400 Free taking of photographs and designing of the Webpage are also included in our service 

Residential Telephone Directory Listing This the newest part of our directory but one that has exciting potential and here is why By listing your name address phone and even you mobile number the directory can be a quick
reference for anyone around the world who wants to phone you.

For anyone on broadband it takes less than 15 seconds to find a phone number. That’s quicker that you can find the phone book and your glasses  The other good thing is you have no key words to type in before you find the right town.  To be listed in the online directory all we require is a donation from as little as $10 

You can also obtain a Webpage on the directory which you can use to display photographs of your home or family. You can also use the Webpage to sell your home, your car or any other household item  Whenever you have some new photos to show family and friends around the world just load them on to your family Webpage and there they are for your friends and family to see. To obtain a Webpage requires a donation from $100 

Timaru Attractions This is the part of the directory were we get to show off what Timaru has to offer. At the time of writing we are displaying photos of things that are of interest to different people. We are currently displaying some of our Timaru icons such, Phar Lap, Jack Lovelock, Bob Fitzimmons, St Mary’s Church, Sacred Heart Basilica, and Hydro Grand Hotel. We are also promoting local events such as the Bay Carnival, Timaru Christmas Parades and the heavy snow fall in Timaru.

There are many more things we could promote in Timaru but to do so requires sponsorship from the community. We can offer companies naming rights on any project giving them access to a world wide audience.  

Timaru Directory News 
Timaru no longer has a locally owned newspaper they are all owned by companies outside of Timaru so we thought it is an opportune time to start reporting some local Timaru news via the internet. What you are now reading is our first article in the Timaru Directory News. We will be displaying a lot more news article as the directory grows.
