“There is nothing that will overcome resistance like persistence”
This quote reminds me of the greatest and shortest speech ever given by a politician. The politician’s name was Sir Winston Churchill. He gave the speech to a graduating class in a British University.
This great statesman walked into the campus hall and up to the lectern. He took off his bowler hat and laid down his cane. Then he looked out into the faces of a room full of young men and women who had completed their formal education and were about to enter the workforce for the first time.
He said to his young audience, “Never Give Up”
He paused and then said, “Never Ever Give Up”
he paused again and said, “Never Ever, Ever Give Up”
With those words he picked up his cane put on his bowler hat and left the room.
Some years ago there was a young New Zealander who dreamed of becoming an All Black and his persistence saw him realize his dream and represent his country as an All Black fullback.
He also became a very successful businessman but in 1996 this famous All Black did something different. He heard of a young paper boy who been accused of murdering his entire family and he set about to prove the boys innocence.
He fully commited himself to the cause which cost him a large part of his wealth and even his marriage. After over a a decade of rejection disappointment and frustration this famous rugby player from Taumaranui finally saw a Dunedin paper boy walk free from prison.
Sir Winston Churchill never gave up and Joe Karam never gave up because they believed in their cause and they both understood the power of persistence.
The moral of these 2 stories is that anyone can succeed at anything in life if they stick to the fight when they are hardest hit.
There are no failures in the world just people who QUIT.
