Depression

I’m writing on the subject of depression because I sense there is a feeling of hopelessness in the minds of many Timaru people right now.
We have all experienced those wonderful feelings of a positive mental attitude where everything goes right and life feels like its a breeze.

Then one day everything starts going wrong and often we respond in a way that does not help the situation.

The thing to remember is you are not alone in your days of depression it’s a perfectly normally state of mind. You may think that your situation could never get better but let me assure it can and it is for millions of people around the world every day.

The hardest thing to do is to maintain a positive mental attitude every day but it can be done and these are just 7 things that you can do daily to help you feel better.
Remember depression is nothing more than a negative emotion and the way to change any negative emotion is to replace it with a positive one.

Say to yourself every day this is going to be a great day, I feel great, I feel fantastic, I feel terrific.

Don’t dwell on the past or the future live your life as if its your last and live it one day at a time.

Give thanks daily for the good things God he has given you.
Ask yourself these questions, who do you know that has bigger problems than you do?

What is the worst that could happen and would it really matter that much if it did?

Don’t worry about what others think of you because they are too busy thinking about themselves.

Finally depression is like the flue its contagious but the good news is so is positive thinking so if you want Timaru to become a more positive exciting place to live then their has to be a change in attitude and that change must start within you.
