Timaru Swimming Pool Promoter Ron Bishop under attack from the Timaru Herald

When I launched my appeal to save the Century Pool I knew I would be attacked by the Timaru Herald editorial staff for a number of reasons.

For some unknown reason they don’t like me and refuse to print any more of my letters to the Editor.
The Timaru Herald are the media that the Timaru District Council is using to promote the new Aquatic Centre and they have so far been paid thousands of dollars by the council to promote the new pool
In an article in the Timaru Herald 14th October they falsely claimed that they had received a complaint about my fundraising efforts yet they have provided no evidence that such a complaint had ever been made
They even complained that my efforts to save the Hydro Grand Hotel from demolition,  building a 5 Hotel and Conference Centre and promoting Phar Lap on my website was some sort of criminal offence.
Save the Century Pool public appeal will continue and every bit of negative information they print about me all helps to spread the word that the Century Canterbury Jubilee Commemoration Baths opened by the Governor Lord Ranfurly on 3 December 1900 will be closed for ever because of the Timaru Herald and others like them who want to kill the south end of Timaru

The History of Swimming in Timaru
Since I started my campaign to save the Century Pool I have become interested in the fascinating history of swimming pools in South Canterbury so much so that I intend to write a book on the subject. One of the things that has always concerned me is the low numbers of people that go swimming and if the new aquatic centre is to succeed then more people are going to have to put on their togs. I intend using the funds I raise to promote the Century Pool and encourage more swimming in the district.
More about this subject later and in the meantime I have some more door knocking to do so the Timaru Herald can find some more negative stuff about me to fill up their newspaper
