Attention: All Schools, Churches, Sports Clubs and Residents of Timaru

Timaru Tourist Promotions Ltd  SAVE THE CENTURY POOL  Public Appeal

The quality and location of our Schools, Churches, Sport and Recreation facilities are the things that people look for when deciding if Timaru is a good place to come and live. Our aim as a company is to promote all these things and right now the biggest hurdle is to try and hang on to what we already have. Your school has an all year round heated swimming pool within walking distance from most residents and schools.
Unfortunately for you the powers that be have decided to close it down. Recently I have been calling on the residents in the South end of Timaru seeking financial support that will allow me to promote the schools in the area and save the Century Pool. If I am to succeed in leading this campaign then I will need support from the school teachers, parents. grand parents, students and others. Public opinion and donations backed up by the promotion of the Century Pool on this Timaru Directory website and other advertising media is what will stop it from closing. The Council’s decision to build an expensive new Aquatic Centre on Maori Park which has difficult access has been met with disapproval by many families and those at the South end of Timaru should do everything they can to hold on to the valuable asset they still have. Our save the Century pool supporters club is increasing each week but at the moment it is limited by only one pair of hands. Right now I could well do with some moral support because my actions in starting this appeal are already coming under fire by those who want to close the pool down. If you would like me to continue my work in helping you save your swimming pool for the children and others in your community then please contact me by making a comment on this article.
