When I first started knocking on doors to find out how many people wanted to save the Century Pool in Timaru from closing I did want just a long list of names on a petition sheet. I was looking for people that were prepared to pay a price for saving it which is why I asked for donations. The funds that I have been receiving are all being spent on promoting the Century Pool and for my time and expenses in running the campaign. I collected my first donation of $10 on 4th October 2o10 and I have now received over 300 donations ranging from 10 cents to $100 from each supporter. My target is 1000 Save he Century Pool supporters. Its not a easy task because 90% of the houses I call on the people are not at home. Of those that are at home 90% don’t want the Century Pool to close and are happy to make a small donation. Most people today use plastic money so cash is hard to find in peoples wallets and purses but I accept whatever people can find. We have been leaving invoices with people and they send us donations using those. This campaign is not about money its about finding people who will give whatever they can afford to give to help fight for a cause that will benefit not only this generation but many generations to come.

We have listed the Century Pool in 6 online SH1 Directory Phone Books in www.invercargilldirectory.co.nz www.dunedin.co.nz, www.oamarudirectory.co.nz , www.timarudirectory.co.nz, www.ashburtondirectory.co.nz and www.christchurchdirectoryco.nz All these online phone books are on state highway one and coe under the one heading www.sh1directory.co.nz

If we are to save the Century pool from closing we have about 18 months of work to do and a major part of that work will be lobbying the councillors and council staff but first we must have at least 1000 supporters for them to take any notice. We hope to reach 1000 supporters by June of 2011 or before if we find some volunteers to give me a hand.
Winners & Losers
When ever you step out and do some good for the community there will always be some losers who will throw stones at you. You may of read some of their abusive remarks on this blog and we have even had one gutless person send me some hate mail in the post. If you sit around all day and bludge on the state people will call you a loser. If you go out into the community become successful and help other people you will be called a tall poppy and the losers will try and cut you down. Its the criticism by others that keeps you going so succeed anyway and the losers will move on to someone else.
