Save the Drift North with a Donation

I have lived in the South Island for over 30 years an in that time I have seen many towns go back with a trend for governments to move things North. If Timaru is to continue its trend to move North the the central business area will die and the City as we once knew will become a ghost town.  In this article I want to point out some of the things in recent times that have been going North

Timaru

  • The Inland Revenue Department is to shift approx 30 of their staff North
  • The Century swimming pool is to close and move all its customers North
  • Mitre 10 has just moved their building supplies premises North
  • South Canturbury Finance Ltd head office has moved North
  • Showgrounds in the North is about to build a shopping complex which will see Stafford Street shoppers move North
  • Central South Island Tourism promotes North
  • National chainstores in Timaru send all their profits North

The Answer

  • Promotion
  • Promotion
  • Promotion

Timaru is simply not being promoted and all the donations we receive get invested in promoting. The more donations we receive the more we can promote the City and keep it alive
