Public appeal in honour of Captain Henry Cain
Captain Henry Cain was an early pioneer whose life was taken from him before his time and we now owe it to him to continue the work he did in making Timaru a better place for us to live. We are a new generation of people and it is our responsibility to rebuild the town that was established for us by the early pioneers over 150 years ago.
Rebuilding Timaru Together
Many of the buildings surrounding the Theatre Royal on Stafford Street are now empty and over time have become an embarrassment to us all. No single developer could ever replace what took 6 generations to build and it is only together as a community that we will be able build a whole new modern day shopping complex that we can all be proud of. This fundraising campaign is to lay the foundation stones to an idea to build a modern multi story shopping mall that will rebuild the southern end of Timaru for the benefit of us all. The 6 buildings in the photos below are the only buildings in the block that we believe could enhance and be complimentary to a proposed new shopping mall on the southern end of Stafford Street.
Unique Concept
The development we plan to do as a company is different to anything that has ever been attempted in Timaru before. Our aim is to give every South Canterbury man women and child the opportunity to become beneficiaries or shareholders of a charitable trust in honour of all our pioneers including Captain Henry Cain.
Management
Timaru Tourist Promotions Ltd is the company that is managing the initial campaign and we want you to be part of it by making a donation at an amount that you can afford. We will represent you in negotiations with those who have an interest in the land and we will make sure that what we are proposing is feasible and that no single land owner or tenant will be disadvantaged by the development.
