Timaru District Council Gets Kicked Offline

Timaru Directory Website
It is easy enough to build a website but it takes a lot of hard work and many years of promotion  to get your website recognised by google and other search engines. What makes the Timaru Directory so popular is the fact that it has incorporated a business phone book which is linked to 5 other business phone books in the South Island .

  • INVERCARGILL DIRECTORY
  • DUNEDIN  DIRECTORY
  • OAMARU  DIRECTORY
  • TIMARU  DIRECTORY
  • ASHBURTON  DIRECTORY
  • CHISTCHURCH DIRECTORY

All businesses are listed for free except those highlighted who get additional exposure.

Government Organisations Denied Access
The reason I have decided to deny  government funded organisations further free listings in the Timaru Directory is that none of them are prepared to provide my company Timaru Tourist Promotions Ltd with any funding for the work we do in promoting the Timaru District.
The Timaru District Council and all its subsidiaries have had their business phone numbers removed from the Timaru directory, Those effected are

  • Timaru District Council
  •  South Canterbury Museum
  •  Aoraki Development Business and Tourism
  • Caroline Bay Association
  •  Timaru Information & I-site Centre
  • Antigua Art Gallery
  • Safer Community Council
  • Theatre Royal
  • Timaru Library
  • Timaru Water Reservoir
  • Police
  • Emergency Services
  • Civil Defence
plus any other local Government Department

Promotional Books
We have just finish publishing Timaru’s first ebook on Caroline Bay and several other promotional books are in the pile line. A book promoting the Timaru  Central Business Area  is also in the pipeline but that has been put on hold because the Timaru District Council wont help fund it.
Our attention at the moment is to promote the rural sector and then the towns of Ashburton and Oamaru.  Once we have done that then lets hope the Timaru District Council looks outside of its own square and recognises the promotional value of the work done by Timaru Tourist Promotions Ltd and other free enterprise organisations.
