Timaru has been my home for 35 years and I have always called it a City. In fact the local authority was once called the Timaru City Council before it amalgamated with the County Council and became the Timaru District Council.
Timaru Snubbed
It came as quite a surprise to me last night when a Television reporter announced on TV One that Dunedin was the closest City to Chistchurch. The reporter used that as a reason why Christchurch refugees should move to Dunedin to set up a home.
They may as well close down the Timaru City because when it comes to promoting it Timaru people are that full of apathy they dont care.
