The Hierarchy have said NO”
The Timaru district council have said NO
The Aoraki Development Business and Tourism have said NO
The Timaru Herald have said NO
The Timaru Courier have said NO
Most of my friends and relations have said NO
Finally the Public have said Yes
Persistence has overcome resistance and finally the public have said YES
I’m talking about my public fundraising appeal to publish free children’s books for disadvantaged children.
After getting so many rejections I went back to doing what I did over 40 years ago
I went knocking on doors asking people for a donation. The first home I called on the homeowners said yes we will give you a donation to enable you to give away your children’s books to families in need
Thanks to the generosity of the public hundreds of books are now about to be distributed
free to the poor and disadvantaged children of Timaru.
How do I find the disadvantaged children?
The library have said No
The schools have said No
The church organisations have said No
The government departments have said No
I have learnt that it is a waste of time dealing with organisations
who have no authority to make decisions
So I will use the same system as I’m doing to raise the money
I will knock on doors of the homes until I find some children who
I think deserve a free book. I will also go to the rest homes and give away books to the elderly to pass on to their grandchildren.
The number of books I can write is endless and as long as I stick to my marketing plan
of working with the public and not government departments I am confident I will succeed with my cause. If you are a householder and want do something about helping the thousands of families that cannot afford to buy books them we would welcome your donation.
